“Despite short notice the people of the Dales have done Darley Maternity Unit proud again today” said Sarah Walker MOMS spokesperson, “This turnout should send a strong message to Eric Morton that we will not tolerate the cuts in service he is proposing”.
"MOMS would like to thank people for taking the time to come along and
yet again show their support for the unit. It really does demonstrate
how well loved and how essential Darley Maternity Unit is."

MOMS requests meeting with Trust Chief Executive - 23rd November 2006
MOMS has written to Mr Eric Morton, Chief Executive of the Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust asking for a meeting to hear first hand about the aims and details of the current review of local maternity services and to discuss how they can best work with managers and Board Members to build a “fabulous future” for local maternity services.
Commenting on the request to Eric Morton, MOMS’ spokesperson, Kate Carlton-Reditt, said
“We really hope that Mr Morton will respond positively to our request. As local people, we want to work with the Trust to build a fabulous future for our maternity services and provide a way for local people to provide their own insight and ideas to help maintain and protect those services..
“Everyone knows that the Trust is currently reviewing the provision of local maternity services, but as of yet nobody locally has been asked for their own views. We think that’s a real missed opportunity. Most local people will agree that it’s not sensible for the Trust to simply talk to itself internally, come up with its own ideas behind closed doors and then give local people a ‘take it or leave it’ option. We think our suggestion of working proactively with the Trust is a better way.”
