What Will MOMS Do Next?
MOMS are working with Chesterfield Royal
Hospital, Derbyshire PCT and Darley Dale Town Council to ensure that the unit
re-opens precipitously; an effective marketing plan is put into place;
necessary improvements to the unit are carried out; relevant market research
takes place to ensure mothers needs and wants are met; the future of the unit
is secure.
The unit is scheduled to re-open in early September once staff have been found
and renovations have been carried out. MOMS will continue to put pressure on
the Trust to make sure that this happens no later than that, preferably sooner.
As well as this, MOMS will be arranging several fundraising events over the
next few months with the aim of raising £40,000 to install a birthing pool for
the unit. We believe this will significantly improve the appeal of the unit,
thus saving it from further closure threats in the future.
We appreciate that many of you will have already contributed time, effort and
money to the campaign, but we still very much need your support for these
events, so please check the events page regularly for details of upcoming
events!
MOMS Victorious!
Hospital bosses have been forced to admit
that Darley Maternity Unit should re-open as soon as possible. Thanks to
everyone who has contributed to the campaign, we have been able to demonstrate
the overwhelming public support for the unit. Announcing their intention to
re-open the unit Chesterfield Royal Hospital stated that 75% of the responses
to their consultation document were solely in relation the DMU.
So THANK YOU to absolutely everyone who helped to secure this fantastic result.
Every action, no matter how big or how small made a difference to the campaign,
and for that we are truly grateful.
